Where is story telling going?

With all this talk of new ways to tell stories where is the current world of telling stories going? I think that in the future everything will be told in the very least in an interactive way. People want to be more involved with whats happening on screen and I think its time everyone started noticing. Everyone will be talking about oh what did you decide to do at this point and this point and oh how did it end for you instead of oh did you watch last nights episode? Everything will change no more boring break time discussions everyone will be talking about something different and everyone will have a different experience. With things like Snapchat, Vine and Instagram the possibilities are endless. I wouldn’t be surprised if in the near future most major shows started implementing digital story telling techniques into there very shows. It would certainly change up the dynamic that everyone is so used to. Well enough of my strange thoughts I’ll be sitting here waiting for the digital revolution of Tv to come were I get to watch old TV purists fight the new wave of TV watchers that want to change the old format. Soon Television wont even be a thing and everything will be on the internet I think. Until then I’ll just be sitting here watching Game of Thrones. Have a goodnight.

Snapchat!

In the last year Snapchat has become insanely popular. There are so many things you can do with Snapchat to tell a story. With the added feature of being able to pile snaps on top of each other for everyone on your friends list to see to actually creating interesting story lines through the view of 10 second clips. With so much potential its not insane to think that Snapchat signed a deal that would allow massively popular companies to have there own section on Snapchat so everyone can see their Snapchats. Another cool thing that has been recently added is when ever a popular event is going on around the world it will appear on our contacts list allowing you to add to the popular event if you are taking part in it. Its really cool to think that you can be a part of something so massive just by having a phone with the Snapchat app. Snachat has changed the way people used to see how you can tell a story in such a short amount of time. Being bale to go onto Snapchat when there is nothing else to and seeing people making short stories whether it be comedy, drama or something else there is always people making something to put up online. I think if more things were just as accessible as this more people would be interested in story telling.

Horror

In the past there have been so many great horror digital stories. The one I’m thinking of right now was made by Doritos who have a things for making video games to promote them. This game was an interactive horror video game that aloud you to explore a haunted hotel. The whole point of the game was to give you an intense feeling similar to the what the Doritos were supposed to give you. The interesting thing about this game was that it was only available for a limited amount of time just like the chips that were on sale. I think it would have been more successful if they let people play the game longer but for what ever reason they didn’t. The cool thing about this game was that you had full control over everything you got to do. It was intense. Throwing you into a scary hotel and than just at the end you find out that it was all a marketing ploy. But it was good marketing ploy. The fact that at the start they didnt put there name on it at all was one of the coolest part of it all. I think we need more companies doing things like this. Putting out fun, interesting games into the world would market there products to new people and give people a very fun entertaining experience.

Wolves in the Throne room have finally reached what they have wanted to with this record. Honestly listening to this is an experience that is just so enthralling. I cant’t say enough good things about this record. Some fans might not like the changes but in my opinion this is what WITR have been trying to do since they started. This band makes you feel like you are watching a scary movie the whole way through. Another form of digital story telling was this website that loaded google searches and when ever you hovered over certain things it would play music notes. I dont know why but I just thought of that.

Talking bout the Witcher

For those of you that don’t know I am largely obsessed with the Witcher series. One of the best parts about being a part of a community so large is that there is a wiki set up. This wiki has everything you will ever want to know about the story of the Witcher. Since the world of the Witcher is so massive it helps to have a website completely dedicated to the documenting the world. Lately I’ve been getting back into playing the game. For those who don’t know the game is build upon story choices that you yourself get to choose. The game as 8 possible different endings based on the choices you make throughout the game. This is one of the reasons the game is so great because you have so much influence over the world with the choices you make. The fact deciding to save someone in this game will have effects in the next game puts so much pressure on you to try and make the right choice. Another great part of the Witcher story is that the charcters are real and actually make you feel emotion while playing through the game. Every character is different and thats one thing that’s great about the series.

This will now be my third post in 24 hours. I’m beginning to feel like one of those news pages that constantly posts articles no matter what time it is. Anyway this is my last spam post for a week or so. Last night I made a banana smoothie with Jes and it was great. I put sugar inside it and oh boy did my body thank me for eating something so healthy it was great. I also got a new shirt in the mail I think its pretty sweet. Its making fun of the OBEY brand of clothing by having the same imagery but changing and putting a hero from DOTA instead of the weird usual face. You can see the shirt here if you are having a hard time imaging it. Anyway for the next week I’ve got nothing better to do except procrastinate and finish other projects that are due soon. I’m also going to be handing in two portfolios and hopefully be accepted to the programs I want to join. Thats the ideal situation as I see it. I also might have to start looking for a new place to live (shh dont tell anyone). It’ll be our little secret you and I. Me and you we have something… I can feel it in the way I type to you. Its special.

Jessica my one true love. Oh yeah I never mentioned this before but I actually have a girlfriend and let me tell you… its great. We have been dating for almost 2 years. And its been the greatest 2 years of my adult life. A few days ago it was valentines day. Let me just say that I think I’m the best boyfriend in the world. I went out into the freezing cold to make sure the roses I got were fresh. Than I got her her favorite chocolates. Than the hard part. Waiting. In the morning I got up extra early. Made egg in a hole (the best thing ever). Got candles ready and played her favorite music. It was the best morning I’ve had in a long time. Everything went according to how I had planned. Now I wish we could just have everyday be like that day I just talked about. But unfortunately we don’t live in a fairy tale. Anyway on a completely separate footnote have you ever heard of WatchMojo? It is the best YouTube channel I have found recently. They make the best top 10 videos of all time. Anyway ya thats just the last thing I could think of writing about. Have a good night folks. I had a jolly ol’ time writing this. Now I’m just rambling to get my work count up. I know I’m a sellout you can tell me that later if you want. Now my head just hurts… time for bed.

Lately I’ve been slacking on the blog. I know I’m horrible. I said at the start that this wouldn’t happen but already has! So I’ve decided to tell you what I’ve been doing besides blogging. Firstly the main thing that I’ve been doing. Playing Dota 2 my long time passion that I’m just so obsessed with. If you don’t know what Dota is you can watch this video here. It’s all about teamwork and self knowledge of the game. I myself have almost 1000 hours in the game. And if you do know something about the game here is my DOTABUFF profile for you to enjoy. Secondly I’ve been watching a lot hockey recently. My favorite team is the Montreal Canadians (they are the best). Hockey is this great past time that allows you to relax, grab a beer and have a good time. Anyways I really don’t feel like posting anything more about what I’ve not been doing because in reality… I’ve been lying this whole time. The only reason I’m even making more blog posts is because I’m literally being forced to so I can get a better grade. I thought it would be fun but it is just turning into a chore that is really boring. I cant just sit here and talk about my life for no reason when no one is going to respond. I’ve got way bigger problems that have nothing to do with blogging. Maybe I will just start treating this like a diary.

Hey guys time for my second entry on here. The past week I’ve been doing a lot of school work and also trying to find a job. I’ve also been created several portfolios for next school years classes. In this post I also wanted to get into talking about some of my thoughts (duh). The first time I wanted to get into is Disney movies… and I just cant seem to stand them anymore. I know that the movies are aimed at kids but I also know lots of people my age that still enjoy the movies. The reason I am talking about this is because I am currently taking a Fantasy and Fairy tale elective; now don’t get me wrong I love the class but its taking me back now that we get to watch some of the Disney classics I loved as a child. And now re watching them I’ve started to hate them more and more now that I’ve read the original stories. Even to me this sounds very self absorbed but there is just something about the original stories that has more to it than any Disney movie can ever hope to have. The main movie that made me think of this was Beauty and the Beast (which I both read and watched this past week). While I was watching I couldn’t help but think about just how bored and disconnected I felt; although Be Our Guest is still great it alone could not save the movie for me. Alright thats me done for the day. I’ll most likely make another post tomorrow not so centered around ranting on one subject. I felt like this needed to be talked about encase anyone felt the same as me.
